What is PLUSHIE MAKING?

Hi everyone!! If you're wondering what plushie making is,, it is for me a very fun hobby to do..
Some people call them plush and some call them plushie ^^

These are felt fabrics. They come with lots of different colours.
I got these from DAISO but it can be found at any craft store :)
Okey, plushies are actually like stuffed animals but it does not have to be animals only..
The fun part is, you can design your own plushies!

Besides animals, it can be a food plush, a musical instrument plush, an electronic device plush, a cartoon character plush, or anything you could think of!

Some people use sewing machine to make plushies but a large number of home plushie makers hand sewn there plushies (including me).
Different coloured threads.

So,  the things that you'll need are:

1. Fabrics.

  • Felt fabrics are commonly used to make plushies. Other fabric that can be used is, fleece fabric.
  • These types of fabrics are often used because they do not fray easily.
  • Felt fabrics are easier to use because it is really easy to poke a needle through them than fleece fabrics.

Needles
2. Thread.
  • You can use any thickness of thread. I love to use both thick thread and thin thread.
  • When you  use thicker thread, your plushies will look more like handmade and homey( if that makes sense to you) while using thin thread, your plushies will look more like factory made (i guess) and I don't know exactly how to explain this but you get the idea^^..

Poly fill stuffing or facial cotton
(poly fill stuffing is the best for me)

3. Needles
4. Stuffing
  • When you use poly fill, your plushies will be really squishy so I recommend you to use poly fill instead of facial cotton or cotton ball or whatever you call it ^^

5. Fabric scissors or regular scissors
6. Pins
7. Templates / Patterns (optional)
  • I have lots of templates to help you make your plushies.
  • Go ahead and check them out!

This is my youtube channel where I post tutorials on various plushie making: http://www.youtube.com/user/glitterandplush?feature=mhee
